Background of the Study
Misau Local Government Area (LGA) in Bauchi State has faced persistent land disputes over the years, fueled by factors such as land ownership claims, demographic shifts, and competing interests between farming and pastoral communities. These disputes have been compounded by geopolitical influences, such as local governance structures, state land policies, and regional political dynamics (Bala & Ibraheem, 2024). In some cases, these geopolitical factors have escalated conflicts, affecting not only land access but also community relations and local economies. This study seeks to examine the geopolitical implications of these land disputes in Misau LGA, exploring the role of governance and policy in the ongoing conflicts.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
Land disputes in Misau LGA have resulted in significant socio-political and economic challenges, exacerbating inter-community tensions and hindering development. Despite various attempts by local and state governments to resolve these disputes, the role of geopolitical factors, such as policy decisions and local political influence, remains under-explored. This study will investigate how these factors contribute to or mitigate land disputes in the region.

This research is essential for local and state policymakers, as well as land management authorities, in creating more effective strategies for land conflict resolution (Bala & Ibraheem, 2024).
1.7 Scope and Limitations of the Study
The study will focus on land disputes in Misau LGA, Bauchi State, analyzing the role of geopolitical factors. Limitations include the challenge of obtaining complete data on land ownership and conflicts due to the sensitivity of the subject and local political influences.
